  • Greg Swieter

    DVM

Dr. Swieter joined the VCA University Veterinary Clinic team as full time Associate Veterinarian in July after graduating from the VA-MD Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in May of 2012. He previously worked at both VCA University and VCA Annandale as a Veterinary Assistant in the summers starting in 2006. He has been a resident of Virginia for almost his entire life and has lived in Fairfax since 1991. At this stage in Dr. Swieter's career he is still exploring his specific interests within the umbrella of small animal veterinary medicine. He does, however, have a particular zeal for effective/optimal client communication, clinical pathology and cytology. Dr. Swieter is a member of the Phi Zeta Honor Society of Veterinary Medicine and finished in the top 15% of his graduating class. In his free time, Dr. Swieter enjoys both playing and watching many different sports including soccer, football and basketball. He also loves to spend time with his Guinea Pig, Iggy, and his dog, Kaylie. "The reason why I work at VCA University Veterinary Clinic is the lasting relationships made with the clients. The gift of being able to treat and bond with multiple generations of pets belonging to multiple generations of clients is uncommon in other fields of work and even other vet clinics. The entire staff has the pet's health and the client's comfort as their top priorities. That connection, that bond, between myself and the individuals on both ends of the leash, is what makes me so lucky!"

  • Beecher Watson

    VMD, Medical Director

Dr. Watson is a 1982 graduate of The University of Pennsylvania, with undergraduate studies at Penn State University, and the University of Maryland. After spending the first 10 years of his practice life developing embryo transfer and cryopreservation in the bovine species in the mid-Atlantic states, his next venture took him into a small animal practice which he purchased, and sold after 5 years to "Healthy Pet". After helping Healthy Pet manage three practices in the Richmond, Virginia area, and then working as an associate in private practice, Dr. Watson went to work for Banfield Pet Hospitals in central Virginia. He initially began there as the senior surgeon servicing five hospitals, and then as Chief of Staff over two hospitals: Colonial Heights and Williamsburg. Dr. Watson has also worked some relief shifts for at VCA New Kent Animal Hospital. Dr. Watson enjoys working with people through mentoring, and helping them achieve their personal goals. In his down time, Dr. Watson enjoys time spent with his family, on or near the water, avidly reading and drawing. His family consists of wife Donna, sons Chip and Winn, and his daughter Anna. Most importantly, his pets include Wubse, a 5 year old portly feline, and WooWoo, an 8 year old Old English Bulldog.
